The three lynx released on July the 2nd, at “Navarredonda” property, located on Almuradiel municipality (Ciudad Real), come from three of the fours captive breeding centres belonging to the “Ex-situ” Conservation Program that brings Portugal and Spain together.

Males Kaplan and Kairós, and female Kiowa, where submitted to a previous preparation program in order to increase their wild instincts. Selection was based on their genetic variability and, before the release, lynx were equipped with a transmitter collar which allow their tracking by LIFE+Iberlince program environmental agents and Castilla-La Mancha regional government technicians.

The specimens were released with the aim of consolidating the current population in the Serra Morena’s east area, following confirmation of others specimens in the area, from Andújar-Cardeña nucleus.
