The eight specimens of lynx released in Extremadura in the area of Matachel, that will form in the future the nucleus of this specie, are exploring the nearby territories and are perfectly adapt to their new habitat. All specimens have a GPS collar, which enables their daily location and allows to check in-situ their good physical shape.
The liberated Lynxes come from a captive program and were reintroduced under the LIFE + Iberlinx program.
Lynxes have explored the territory around the property where they were released, with the exception of "Jerez", a 2 years old male that is constantly exploring more distant territories.
The territory where they were released has the necessary conditions for their survival: a suitable and optimal habitat for these specimens, with a large area, with only a few roads and with a high density of rabbits.
