Kung-Fu and Kiki, two new released lynx to reenforce the specie reintroduction in Castilla-La Mancha

Kung-fu and Kiki, two new captive born Iberian lynx specimens, were released today in Castellar de Santiago (Ciudad Real), to reinforce the specie reintroduction in Castilla-La Mancha.
The released of Kung-fu and Kiki, named by the Castellar de Santiago children’s through a vote, joined the released of lynx Káplan, Kairós and Kiowa, re-introduced last week in Almuradiel (Ciudad Real).
Kung-fu and Kiki, from the National Iberian Lynx Reproduction Centre, in Silves (Portugal), along with Kaplán, Kairós, Kiowa and Kenitra, were released on Ciudad Real province with the purpose of form a specie reproduction group.
All of them come from a captive born program and were reintroduced within the LIFE+Iberlince Program, which is expected to released, in the upcoming days, Kala and Kivu, two new specimens, in Castellar de Santiago, and reach the expected number of releases, 8 on to the east area of Serra Morena during this summer.
Kung-fu and Kiki released has occurred on a property located at Serra Morena east area, and was witnessed by hundreds of children and general population, marking a historic moment in the region.
The chosen property owner, Pedro Solís, mentioned that was feeling very proud by being able to count with such charismatic specie such as Iberian lynx and assured that his property intended to be a paradigm for Mediterranean forest management with the goal of Iberian Lynx conservation.
