Two new lynx litters in Montes de Toledo

Environmental agents and technicians Life+Iberlince Project, have confirmed the presence of two other breeding females of Iberian lynx in Montes de Toledo.
On this occasion have been Kea, female born in 2013, from the breeding centre Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres) and released in Montes de Toledo in December 2014 and Lila, female born in 2014 in the centre of Silves (Portugal) and released in April 2015. Each of the two females tended to three cubs respectively.
With this new discovery, there are now four breeding females in Montes de Toledo, a total of fourteen cubs born this year.
Thus, all territorial females established in the area of reintroduction have been able to reproduce confirming expectations the best kept from the Iberlince Project.
From the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development this as very positive for the recovery of the lynx in Montes de Toledo is valued, and constitutes a major step forward to regain importance in the past they had to the species.
The Ministry and the Project want to take this happy news to recognize the important work of the owners and managers of farms that collaborate with the project to reintroduce the species.
