The Life+Iberlince project for the 'Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal' will organize on May 21 in the town of Andújar (Jaén) participatory and open days for citizenship, with the aim of putting in value the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
To this purpose, it was designed a broad program of playful and dynamic activities, especially aimed at children and young people, through which participants will know basic aspects of the biology and ecology of the Iberian lynx, as well as other curiosities about the species, which will help them to become aware of the need to conserve and protect endangered species such as the Iberian lynx.
The workshops, which will be held throughout the morning in the Plaza de España in the town of Jaén, will invite the children to create masks of lynx, to make plaques of lynx, to play a game in a huge board, to play music on the event in a percussion workshop... Activities that not only will be funny but also, will provide the transmission of messages related to the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
During the day, which will start at 10:00 am - and until 2:00 pm uninterruptedly - the attendees will also be able to enjoy a storyteller with stories of lynx and can participate in a workshop of road education 'Care with the lynx', in Which monitors will give them some fundamental guidelines to follow when circulating in a territory with the presence of Iberian lynx. They will also be able to visit a photographic exhibition with a selection of images of the species, their natural habitat and human context.
The attendees will also be able to photograph themselves near an Iberian lynx thanks to a virtual scenario that Iberlince will install in the Plaza de España de Andújar, and whose images can be downloaded later in the project’s Facebook page (@iberlinceEU), where you can also see all the images taken in the 'photocall' of the conference.
And after an intense morning, participants will be able to attend in the afternoon (at 6 pm) the performance of the children's play 'Mírame de lejos', by the company EDAE, at the Teatro Principal de Andújar. Directed by María Alcántara Manzanares, the work, through humour, songs and dance, shows the story of a young Iberian lynx family and disseminates their reality and the values that support their conservation.
