Life+Iberlince awards 2015 prizes to the conservation of the Iberian lynx

On the next April 4, the Life+Iberlince project will be delivering in Sevilla the Iberlince 2015 awards for the iberian lynx’s conservation. These awards are the recognition of the work and involvement of owners, associations, hunting societies and institutions for the Iberian lynx consertvation. This year the event will be organized by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Government of Andalusia partner as beneficiary Life+Iberlince Project.
The Government of Extremadura nominated to the Iberlince 2015 Award the owner of the farm “Los Hardales”, D. Juan Ignacio de la Cueva Spinola, in which they made all the Iberian lynx’s releasements in 2014, 2015 and 2016 in Extremadura.
It has become an enthusiastic Lynx interaction between family, friends and neighbors, and it is helpful in outreach campaigns of lynx’s divulgation in a regional level, as well as to express their experiences and congratulations to the Project, no doubt giving a step up to appear before the cameras defending our flagship species and showing their great satisfaction for the presence of lynx in their farms to owners and hunters.
The Andalusian County has considered that the Group of Theater "Más Allá de mi Cocina" because to bring theater and environment always work and this women's theater group of Alanis has experienced this very satisfactorily.
The idea was to create a theatre to help them understanding the importance of conservation and reintroduction of the Iberian lynx. With this idea a script was written and began rehearsals for "Las Aventuras de Lino" became a reality. From the first moment there was the idea that the work had a character of fable, story and the music was very present toyed.
The work developed by the Theatre Company, the clarity with which raised the message and their support has been essential for the inhabitants of the area of reintroduction of this animal in Andalusia on approaching to the lynx and the Life+Iberlince project.
Castilla La Mancha rewards the work of the Council of Toledo, whom has indicated from the outset a full commitment to the conservation of the Iberian lynx in the province of Toledo through its Environment Service.
Therefore, and in the absence of educational and awareness Iberlince project aimed at schoolchildren in the province of Toledo, it has made available to the project the material and human resources of the Nursery Education "Taxus", whose staff has developed an original and quality educational program, "El Lince en el cole", which has been developed with great success, effort, professionalism and enthusiasm, in all schools in the reintroduction area of the province, and has reached his entire school population early childhood education and primary objective.
The development of this activity, completed activities Iberlince awareness and education project significantly, earning a high level of satisfaction among the school population and the educational community centers.
The Government of Portugal nominated to the Iberlince 2015 Award the farm Herdade das Romeiras, managed by Romeiras, Hunting and Tourism SA. located in the heart of Mértola in the area of Guadiana Valley Natural Park, Herdade das Romeiras is an area of high potential for big hunting (deer, fallow deer, wild boar) and small hunting (partridge, hare and rabbit). In addition to the aforementioned hunting wealth it is also evident the presence of endangered species such as the Iberian imperial eagle and the golden eagle, which nest on the farm.
The diversity of the landscape and the management carried out is favorable for the abundance of wild rabbits, the area included in the area of high priority for the reintroduction of the Iberian lynx in Portugal being.
In this context, the conservation of the Iberian lynx, R Romeiras, Hunting and Tourism SA. had a crucial role for being in this space where they made the first releases of lynx in Portugal, a process begun in the December 16, 2014 with the release of Kathmandu and Jacaranda, who established their territories within the grounds of Herdade das Romeiras.
Murcia’s region has decided to award Miguel Angel Ruiz Parra, a journalist with a bachelor in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra. He works in the regional newspaper "La Verdad" since 1989, where he is currently head of the area Society and Culture, specializing in Environment.
Since the first meeting in 2010 for writing the Life+Iberlince project, the project had a strong ally in his blog "Los pies en la tierra", sharing information on the participation of Murcia in it, constituting one of the main tools to publicize the actions taken, not only by Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, but also those made by the other partners.
