4 Iberian lynx litter confirmed (Portugal)

After about 1 month of follow-up photo of the offspring of Lagunilla, female loose Iberian lynx in Mértola in 2014, under the project "Recovery of Historical Distribution of the Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal (LIFE + 10/NAT/ES/000570 - Iberlince), it was found that the litter consisted of four copies and not three as initially thought. For the first time the animals came together in the same image, about 500 meters from where they were previously detected. Litters of four copies are not very common, nor the survival of all the pups at the end of the 3rd month of life.

This fact and the good physical condition who appear the young, are excellent indicators of favorable conditions for the stabilization of a future population of lynx site chosen for the reintroduction, including availability of wild rabbit.
