Participation of the Authority Agents in the Life+Iberlince Project in Extremadura

Since the beginning of Life+Iberlince Project in Extremadura the collaboration of the Authority Agents (agents of the Ministry of Environment and Rural, Agricultural Policies and Territory of the Government of Extremadura, and agents of SEPRONA of the Civil Guard) has been close, indispensable and very productive.

The Agents of Environment of Junta de Extremadura, have collaborated in the preparatory work, and prospecting and evaluation of possible areas for reintroduction of the Iberian lynx, especially by performing sampling of rabbits, the main prey of lynx. For this purpose were conducted various training and field meetings in different UTV (Territorial Surveillance Unit) in which the project technicians participated.

Similarly the SEPRONA Agents have been actively involved in the search for illegal gear, the case of poisoning of a lynx in the prevention of other crimes, direct monitoring of the lynx, etc. And it is that the participation of agents is even more necessary after the reintroduction of the lynx, materializing in work such as inspections of illegal gear, cooperation in tracking the Iberian lynx, acting in cases of incidents, awareness and information search signs of lynx presence outside the reintroduction area, and etc.

From the Life+Iberlince project in Extremadura, we thank the constant and effective work that agents of the Natural Environment and SEPRONA made, always ready to work when been required. Note the, and dissuasive fact that these bodies preventive work performed on the day and how valuable are conservation of species such as the Iberian lynx against the aggressions suffered by the natural environment.
