Detected three new cubs born in freedom in Extremadura

Technicians from the Life+IBERLINCE Project have confirmed the birth of 3 new puppies in Extremadura in 2016.

The first is a puppy over Kakapo, which binds the three brothers already confirmed a month ago.

Sometimes it is difficult to confirm the exact number of lynx cubs in a litter, since the observation by the technicians is made from a great distance and least intrusive way to not disturb the female and her cubs. In addition, the terrain very difficult enables observation and occasional specimen is camouflaged in their environment or in some cave or den.

The other two puppies are children of Kodiak, and were not detected before because it is a pregnancy outside the "normal" cycle of the species. Thus, both pregnancy and childbirth have been much later, and so the two cubs have been confirmed later.

Thus, there are 10 confirmed lynx born in freedom in the Valley Matachel-Valdecigüeñas in 2016, 3 breeding females, which give us hope for the continuation of the species in Extremadura.
