The project Iberlince is visited by reporters from National Geographic
2016-07-13
On the last June 22, the journalist Christine Dellamore (who is doing a story on small carnivores in the world) began visiting the National Geographic. The Iberian lynx have a dominant figure in this work, which will also include other conservation projects spread across the world. The reporter visited the Andalusian region of the Iberian lynx population of Sierra Morena, in which it was shown numerous conservation actions carried out in the last 15 years. The Andalusian team would also explained the project objectives and strategy of conservation of the species in these 15 years of continuous work. 29 and 30 Sierra Morena teams were visited by National Geographic photographers who tried to photograph wild lynx in the mountains.
During his visit, I can observe in situ performances as crucial as the pre-adaptation enclosures where the first lynx reintroduced, forestry activities for improvement of rabbit populations, routine monitoring tasks of this species, etc. were released In addition, he could see first-hand the close ties maintained by the owners of private farms in the area of distribution of this species with the project thanks to the collaboration agreements they have signed with the various administrations that are part of the project and visit the Centre facilities captive Breeding Iberian lynx "the Olivilla" where he showed as trains puppies and environmental standards to be met in order to be reintroduced into the wild. Next spring will enjoy this article in the international magazine "National Geographic".
