The Iberian lynx and hunting, go hand in hand in 2016 Fecircatur
2016-09-19
On the last weekend it took place in the town of Ciudad Real the second edition of the Fair of Hunting and Tourism (Fecircatur 2016). In the event the Life+Iberlince project presented its breeding results from the last season, which have reached about 14 puppies in Montes de Toledo and 5 in Sierra Morena Oriental (southwest of Ciudad Real).
These results were announced during the presentation that FOMECAM technicians, one of the project partners in Castilla-La Mancha, taught within the activities of the fair.
Another issue was the compatibility exposed the presence of lynx in the development of hunting. Since the release of Iberian lynx were initiated in the community of Castilla-La Mancha, numerous hunting trips that have developed in areas with the presence of Iberian lynx, although this has been a problem.
From Iberlince a message of "collaboration while caution" to the hunting sector in the region was launched. Hunting in its various forms is fully complementary to the stable presence of Iberian lynx. In addition, the Iberian lynx becomes an ally of the hunter, as it helps to control the predation.
Those attending the presentation showed interest in the project and the partners of the Life + project to continue their work to return the cat to its provinces in Castilla-La Mancha.
Another highlight during the fair was the presence at the same representatives of public administrations in the region. Among them we can highlight to the mayor of Ciudad Real, Ms. Pilar Zamora, president of the Hon. Council of Ciudad Real, José Manuel Caballero, as well as the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development, Mr. Francisco Martinez Arroyo. They all congratulated the Life+Iberlince project for the good results this year and encouraged the team to continue the excellent work done by all partners in the region.
From Iberlince we appreciate the support shown by the institutions, fair-goers and especially the organizers of Fecircatur, for the second consecutive year have allowed us to be present at the fair to note the close cooperation between conservation of species and the hunting sector.
