Litio returns to the Guadiana Valley

The Iberian lynx Litio originating from the center of El Acebuche breeding (Doñana National Park, Spain), was released on May 15, 2015 within the Herdade das Romeiras in Mértola.
For about 70 days walked to explore the surrounding area and eventually fix their territory about 7 km from the place where it was released. However and despite appearing to have a stable territory, Litio left the area in March 2016, and was captured on May 5 in the vicinity of Doñana (area where it was from) by the team from the creation center of El Acebuche. The health assessment indicated that it was in poor physical condition, weighing only 9 kilos and seriously ill. It was transferred to a wildlife recovery center in Huelva, where after about four months, recover completely from infections and gain additional 5 kilos of weight.
Thus, October 11, 2016, Litio was freed again in the reintroduction area in Mértola, an empty territory, wedged between the territories of 2 males and 3 females.
