The Iberian lynx leaves its mark in Sonseca (Toledo)

On Thursday, November 3, FOMECAM technicians gave a presentation on the current Life+IBERLINCE project in Castilla-La Mancha. This activity is framed within the XIV Days of the Mountain, organized by C.D.E. Torozo de Sonseca (Toledo).
The technicians of the project realized an exhibition where the good development of the project in the autonomous community was demonstrated. They emphasized the good adaptation to the territory that the released animals are having and good proof of it are the pups born during this season in the region. A total of 19 copies, fourteen in the Montes de Toledo and five in the Sierra Morena Oriental, come to strengthen the presence of the species in the areas of reintroduction castellanomanchegas.
At the same time, it was announced the progress of the improvements of habitats addressed in the framework of the Life+ project. These actions are aimed at the conservation and increase of the populations of rabbit of mount, basic piece for the diet of the Iberian lynx.
Those attending this paper were very interested in the present and future of the species in the region of the Montes de Toledo. During the activity, as well as the end of the activity, there were numerous questions and comments about the species and about the IBERLINCE project, which corroborates the great interest shown by the local populations in the reintroduction project.
According to this, multiple interventions were the attendees to show their support the project. Likewise, they were excited when talking about some chance encounters with the feline during their activities in the natural environment. The positive repercussions that the presence of the Iberian lynx can have on local development was another matter addressed during the same.
