Students from the Basic School of the 1st Cycle of Almodôvar visited Herdade das Romeiras, within the scope of the project LIFE+IBERLINCE

On November 24, 2016, about 40 students from the 3rd and 4th year of the Basic School of the 1st Cycle of Almodôvar, made a field visit to Herdade das Romeiras with technicians of the IBERLINX Association and ICNF, under the umbrella of the Iberlince’s Project dissemination, co-financed by the European Union's LIFE program.

In the natural habitat of the Iberian lynx, students heard stories about the individuals released in the Guadiana Valley Natural Park, learned how the lynx monitoring is performed and had contact with the telemetry equipment used in their follow-up.

During the field visit, which was carried out with the help of Herdade das Romeiras employees, the students searched for traces of lynx and wild rabbit, learned about the measures of game management in practice and were also able to observe deer in its habitat.

The IBERLINX Association thanks the collaboration of the Romeiras - Hunting and Tourism Company, which once again opened its doors to the Life+IBERLINCE project, and the Almodôvar City Council, which ensured the transport of the children.
