Works to promote the connectivity of wildlife in Doñana

Among the measures that are implemented in roads to try to avoid the abuses and to promote the connectivity of the Iberian lynx in their areas of presence is the placement of fauna passages and the adaptation of the transverse structures, such as drainage or bridges, to function as such.

One of the tasks of the technicians of the project Life+IBERLINCE is the systematic monitoring of these elements through phototrap. In Doñana, this work has been done for years to determine the use of the steps by the Iberian lynx and other species. The results allow to know how the measures developed on the roads fulfill the purpose for which they were implemented, that is, to reduce the fragmentation of the habitat and the risk of violation, and thus contribute to ensure the flow of fauna and connectivity throughout the country. space.

In a scenario of changing population dynamics of the species, the results also help to better understand the current needs of the Iberian lynx in particular and of the fauna in general, which contributes to decision making and the development of new proposals.
