Continue the reintroduction of the Iberian lynx in Extremadura with the release of three copies

The reintroduction program of the Iberian lynx in Extremadura, part of the Life+IBERLINCE project "Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal" continues with its release schedule.
During the second week of February the first specimens of the 2017 have been released. Nebula, Nevada and Nubero, already dominate by territories of the Valley of Matachel.
This reintroduction is the result of actions carried out by the Directorate General for the Environment of the Extremadura Regional Government with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) and the Life+IBERLINCE Project: "Recovery of historical distribution Of the Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal ".
The main objective of this project is to recover the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx both in Spain and Portugal, since it is the most threatened feline in the world and is currently in critical danger of extinction.
Specifically in Extremadura, the initiative has an investment of 4.8 million euros and with the participation of the General Directorate of Environment (which contributes 1.2 million euros) and three other partners, the company Agroforex, Foundation CBD- Habitat and Adenex. In addition, they collaborate the Center of Cultivation in Captivity of the Iberian Lynx of Zarza of Granadilla, of the Autonomous Organism of National Parks; The Andalusian centers of captive breeding of Olivilla and Acebuche; And the breeding center of Silves in Portugal, where one of the specimens comes from.
