The Life+IBERLINCE project exceeds half a hundred Iberian lynx released in Castilla-La Mancha

The Life+IBERLINCE project released on Monday, February 27, in Viso del Marqués (Ciudad Real) two new Iberian lynx specimens with which are already surpassed the fifty reintroduced in Castilla-La Mancha since sunset In progress of the project of conservation of the species.
Neon and Nasa have been released during a festive day that has had the presence in the public mountain of Viso del Marqués of students of the public schools of Viso del Marqués, Santa Cruz de Mudela and San Lorenzo de Calatrava.
City government students have also joined some politicians of public administrations, such as the president of the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, José Manuel Caballero; The delegate of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, Carmen Olmedo; The provincial director of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development, Prado Amores, and the mayor of Viso del Marqués, María Luisa Delfa Monsalve.
Neon, a male born in captivity in the zoo of Jerez, son of Castañuela and Hydrogen, has joined the area of reintroduction of the species in the Sierra Morena Oriental in order to continue increasing the presence of the species in this area of the province Of Ciudad Real.
Neon has also been released along with Nasa, a female born in captivity in the breeding center of Zarza de Granadilla, whose parents are Fárfara and Helio.
With the release of these two copies, for the moment, the liberations in the province of Ciudad Real, where it is expected to be released between May and June, a new female still pending.
The project Life+IBERLINCE also released on Tuesday, February 28, in the estate 'El Sotillo', located between the municipal terms of Sales with Peña Aguilera and San Pablo de los Montes, other three copies of Iberian lynx.
Students from the public school of San Pablo de los Montes (Toledo) attended to the estate 'El Sotillo', which has signed a collaboration agreement with the project Life+IBERLINCE for the company Fomecam to carry out work on improving the habitat..
Negral, a male son of Hubara and Hache, from the breeding center of Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres), was one of the lynxes that was released to join the rest of the animals that are being fought by Montes de Toledo.
Next to it, it was released Nereida, daughter of Cynara and Jupiter, who was born in the Center of Breeding of the Olivilla of Santa Elena (Jaén), and Naipe, a male that comes from this same center of breeding in captivity, that is son Of Cordoba and Orchard.
As in Sierra Morena Oriental, with the release of these specimens will complete the first consignment of releases in Montes de Toledo until next May, when it is scheduled to release the rest of lynx, until the sixteen that the Region is allocated this year.
The release of the more than fifty animals since 2014 has made it possible to consolidate both the Sierra Morena and Montes de Toledo reintroduction areas as stable nuclei for the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
In fact, in both areas during the past year this species was obtained in the wild, with nineteen pups being born in total, of which five were in the province of Ciudad Real and fourteen in the Montes de Toledo.
