The Life+IBERLINCE project releases two Iberian lynxes in Vilches, within the reintroduction area of Guarrizas (Jaén)

Two examples of Iberian lynx, Nambroca and Nácar (female and male, respectively) were released this morning in the Dehesa de las Yeguas area, in Vilches (Jaén), inside the reintroduction area of Guarrizas (Jaén), where Have already been released this season two more copies (Nebraska and Snow). With Nambroca and Nácar there are already four Iberian lynxes that have been released in the Guarrizas river valley so far this year, thus completing the number of reintroductions planned in this area in 2017.

In the act of liberation of these specimens to the natural environment, chaired by Juan Eugenio Ortega, the provincial delegate for the Environment and Spatial Planning of Jaén, the inhabitants of the neighboring towns of Vilches and La Carolina participated. Was able to witness one of the special moments for an Iberian lynx and for the project, as it is the release to the natural environment of this feline.

Interestingly, Nambroca, daughter Fábula and Juncabalejo, is a female of one year old, the smallest of a litter of five cubs, and comes from the captive breeding center of Granadilla (Cáceres). The male Nácar, of the same age as Nambroca, is the son of Fárfara and Helio, and also comes from the breeding center of the Granadilla.

Finally, it should be remembered that the choice of reintroduction areas in Andalusia is not accidental, since they have been chosen for reintroduction due to their quality of habitat, high rabbit densities and strong social support for reintroduction, The collaboration of the owners of private farms and the societies of hunters who manage lands where the bulk of the lynx population is concretized.
