The suitability of hydraulic passages on the roads increases safety against road
2017-02-10
The existing drainage systems on the roads are transversal elements prepared to drain the water from the rains and channel water courses that intercept the road, so that its structural and localization characteristics meet this objective.
These structures are not prepared to serve as a passageway for wild animals, although they are used by some species. It is therefore necessary to install passages for the fauna in strategic locations, which favor the safe transit of species such as the Lynx-Iberian.
However, the drainage system itself has a high defragmenting potential, since with some adaptation and conditioning it can be used as a plumbing element.
The installation of passages for fauna and the adequacy of hydraulic passages on the roads constitute a positive combination with regard to the task of increasing the permeability of the transport routes and safety against the trampling of species as endangered as the Iberian lynx .
