Meeting with owners, hunting managers and associations in Castuera (Badajoz), Ortiga river’s reintroduction area
2017-03-23
As part of the Life+IBERLINCE project: "Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal", on March 22, a new meeting took place with owners, cinematographic managers, custodians of hunting and conservation associations by the staff of IBERLINCE in Extremadura. The meeting took place yesterday afternoon in Castuera, specifically in the Museo del Turrón. In this way, the usual dynamics of encouraging periodic meetings between different groups in the reintroduction areas of lynx are continued.
In a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, the technicians of the Project Life+IBERLINCE in Extremadura showed the day to day of their work in the field and they answered some doubts of the near 40 attendees, who showed very interested in aspects like the diseases of the rabbit , Poaching and the possibility of aid and improvements of habitats on their farms.
The meeting was organized by the General Directorate for the Environment of the Ministry of the Environment and Rural Affairs, Agrarian Policies and Territory of the Regional Government of Extremadura. In addition, representatives of the CBD-Hábitats Foundation, Agroforex And FOTEX.
After the event, the partner AGROFOREX organized a less protocol approach with all the attendees, to facilitate the proximity with the assistants and to exchange opinions in small groups. This meeting was very well appreciated by all present at the event: owners of farms, hunting managers, associations of hunters, representatives of municipalities, conservation associations, etc.
We want to thank to the Project Castuera Town Hall and the Turrón Museum for their excellent reception and kindness, which made us all feel "at home".
