The Life+IBERLINCE project releases two new Iberian lynxes in the reintroduction area of Guadalmellato (Córdoba)

The British chain BBC will record the releases to the natural environment of the pair of Noa and Navío, from the center of breeding in captivity of Zarza of Granadilla

Two examples of Iberian lynx, Navío and Noa (male and female, respectively), were released this morning in Villafranca de Córdoba (Córdoba), within the reintroduction area of Guadalmellato, where a total of Four specimens (three females and one male), with the aim of reinforcing the populations of this species in the region.

In the act of liberation has been present a team of the prestigious television channel BBC (British Broadcasting Company), interested in the recording of a special moment for the Iberian lynxes coming from the centers of breeding in captivity, as it is the release to the natural environment. In this case, the pair of liberated lynxes, Noa (daughter of Hubara and Hache) and Navío (descendant of Jarilla and Gazpacho), came from the breeding center of Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres).

In addition, the students also participated in the sixth-grade Primary School of San Francisco Solano, Épora and Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Montoro (Córdoba), where last Sunday the Life+IBERLINCE project organized a Participatory Conference with Workshops and recreational and educational activities for all citizens.

In the Guadalmellato Valley, where the first Iberian lynx releases began in 2010, a total of four specimens, three females and one male have been released in this release season.

In Guadalmellato, as well as in the reintroduction zone of Guarrizas (Jaén), half of the specimens will be released than in other reintroduction areas of the project (Vale do Guadiana, Matachel Valley, Montes de Toledo, Sierra Morena Oriental). That in these valleys are already constituted the populations of lynx.
