The Iberlince project participates in the cultural week "Our Natural Legacy" of CEIP Bachiller de Moya de Santisteban del Puerto (Jaén)

Technicians from the Life+IBERLINCE Project participated yesterday in the cultural week celebrated in the school "Bachiller Pérez de Moya" of Santisteban del Puerto (Jaén) being this year the theme of this cultural week the nature that surrounds the municipality. During the conference, several workshops were held in which the students of 3rd and 4th Primary have had the opportunity to know this emblematic species, as well as the work developed by the Iberlince Project for the conservation of this feline. In the paper made by the technicians explained their biology, the causes that led to consider the Iberian lynx in critical danger of extinction and the actions being carried out by the project to conserve the species. In addition, they have been able to observe a real size model of this feline, as well as to participate in the workshop of footprints in clay of the fauna that lives with our lynx and in its natural environment.

The children have shown a great awareness and interest in this animal, unknown to many of them, until that moment, since Santisteban del Puerto is not an area of stable presence of lynx, although a potential zone of expansion of the species. Initiatives such as this approach the project to areas where this feline can reach in a near future, helping their knowledge and generating a greater link with the conservation of this and other protected species.
