Andújar recognizes the work of the Iberlince project in the development and projection of the city
2017-05-24
The award was collected by the project director, Miguel Ángel Simón, and further reinforces the ties between Iberlince and Andújar
The Life+Iberlince project 'Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal' was received on Monday in Andújar (Jaén), during the celebration of the City Day, a special recognition for its contribution to development and Projection of the city. This award, which was collected by the director of the national project, Miguel Ángel Simón, further reinforces the ties of the Life+Iberlince project with Andújar, located in one of the zones where the reintroduction actions of this species have been specially focused.
The distinction also goes to show the involvement and awareness of the population of Andújar in the recovery of the Iberian lynx, as well as the degree of commitment to each initiative addressed from Life+Iberlince.
To this recognition is added, as well, the initiative of the full municipal of Andújar, which on April 20 agreed to name the Iberian lynx ambassador of the city, a species with which it is intimately identified and with which, as stands out the agreement Plenary session, the population has known how to coexist over time. Not only that, but also, the lynx has placed Andujar in the focus of those who are interested in that species and, by extension, in the defense of environmental sustainability.
Along with the Iberlince project, the athlete Fermín Cacho received this tribute; The founder of the Association 'Andújar against the drugs', Francisca Benítez; The company Luis Piña S.A.; The Association of Friends of Heritage; The Communication Officer of AMETIC (Association of Electronics Companies, Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Digital Content), Manuel Moreno, and the education blog 'Orientación Andújar'.
Andujar was the scene where last weekend the Life+Iberlince project organized a series of activities to raise awareness of the Iberian lynx among the neighbors of the area. These activities, which revolved around the children's theatrical performance 'Mírame de Lejos' by the EDAE company, had the participation and support of the people, who did not hesitate to approach the Plaza de España and the Teatro Principal Locality to form part of the programming.
