New meeting with owners, hunting managers and associations in Llera (Badajoz)
2017-06-02
Marking the activities of the Life + IBERLINCE project: "Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal", IBERLINCE held a new meeting on May 31st, in Extremadura, with property owners, hunting managers, game preserves and conservation associations.
The meeting was held in the afternoon in Llera, specifically at the town’s "Nave Cooperativa". This was the second meeting with citizens of the potential future reintroduction area of Río Ortiga.
It was a face to face encounter with the citizenry, where attendees had some of their questions answered and were shown the day-to-day of the Project’s technicians. In addition, topics of interest to hunters were also addressed, such as the evolution of viral haemorrhagic disease and possible collaborations between the Project’s veterinary team and property owners.
The meeting was organized by the Environment Bureau of the Ministry for Environment and Rural Affairs, Territory and Agricultural Policies of the Extremadura Council. In addition, members of its governing body, as well as representatives of CBD-Hábitats Foundation, Agroforex and FOTEX, participated in the event. Also among the attendees were technicians of the Extremadura Hunting Federation, who were kind enough to actively take part in the meeting.
As it’s becoming customary, after the event, the AGROFOREX partner organized a less formal gathering with all attendees around a wine of honor, which allowed for a closer bonding between us and the attendees.
We especially want to thank the support of the Llera town hall and its members, who not only helped us organize this event, but also allowed us to effectively engage with its citizens.
