Smashing audience at the theatrical performance and educational activities centred around the Iberian lynx, in Cardeña
2017-06-12
The spotlight was on the Iberian lynx during the Sunday day of leisure, in which families enjoyed themselves and learned about and with this unique feline
A new audience record was set yesterday at the theatrical performance of the children's play 'Mírame de Lejos', by the EDAE theatre company, in Cardeña (Córdoba); as was the case with the parallel activities organized by the Life+Iberlince project for' Recovery of the Historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal', promoting the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
Both children and adults participated in the diverse activities program, which started at eleven o'clock in the morning and ended at two o'clock in the afternoon. Together with their families, they enjoyed workshops and learned basic aspects regarding the Iberian lynx’s biology and ecology, as well as other curiosities about the species.
Throughout the day, attendees were able to make lynx masks, create lynx badges, participate in a giant game of the goose, or provide music for the event in a workshop where they could dance to the sound of the Iberian lynx (reenacting the protagonists’ choreography from the play ‘Mírame de Lejos’). Activities which were not only fun but also relayed messages regarding the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
During the event, participants were also entertained by a storyteller’s tales about the lynx, and joined in the 'Beware of the lynx' workshop about road behavior, in which they were given some fundamental guidelines to consider while driving in lands where the Iberian lynx is present.
Attendees could also take photographs beside an Iberian lynx thanks to a virtual set Iberlince had installed at the Plaza de la Independencia in Cardeña. These photos are and will be available for download from the project’s Facebook page (@iberlinceEU), where all photos taken during Sunday’s event in the photo booth will also be displayed.
After an intense morning in which they related with the Iberian lynx, participants witnessed a staging of the children's theatrical play 'Mírame de Lejos' by the EDAE theatre company, inside the Cardeña municipal stand. Directed by María Alcántara Manzanares, the play tells the story of a young Iberian lynx family through humor, songs and dance, while sharing their reality and the values that support their conservation.
