Next Saturday, June 24th, the children's theatrical play 'Mírame de Lejos', by the EDAE theatre company, will come to the Villafranca de Córdoba Cultural Centre (Cordoba), as the main event of the Iberian lynx seminar being organized by the Life+Iberlince project 'Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal', next weekend at the Cordovan city.
Along with the theatrical performance, which will take place Saturday at 8:00 p.m., Iberlince prepared a program with a wide range of recreational and dynamic activities aimed especially at children and young people, in which participants will learn basic aspects regarding the Iberian lynx’s biology and ecology as well as other curiosities about the species, while raising awareness about the need to conserve and protect endangered species such as the Iberian lynx.
The activities will take place throughout the morning at Plaza de Andalucía, and attendees will be invited to make lynx masks, create lynx badges, participate in a giant game of the goose, reenact the protagonists’ choreography from the play ‘Mírame de Lejos’... Activities which will not only entertain but also relay messages regarding the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
During the event, which take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. uninterruptedly, attendees will also be able to enjoy a storyteller’s tales about the lynx, and participate in the 'Beware of the lynx' workshop about road behavior, in which they’ll be given some fundamental guidelines to consider while driving in areas where the Iberian lynx is present. There will also be a photographic exhibition with a selection of images of the species, their natural habitat and the human context.
Attendees will also be able to take pictures beside an Iberian lynx thanks to a virtual set Iberlince had installed at the Plaza de Andalusia in Villafranca. These photos will be available for download from the project’s Facebook page (@iberlinceEU), where all photos taken during event in the photo booth will also be displayed.
With this theatrical performance and parallel activities, the Iberlince project aims to make the Iberian lynx known and to engage the Cordovan society with the importance of social participation in the recovery of threatened species.
