The exhibition "Territorios de Lince" (Lynx Territories) travels south of Ciudad Real during the month of August.
2017-08-25
During the first half of August, in two locations south of Ciudad Real, an exhibition was on display for the general public conveying basic aspects of the Iberian lynx’s biology, its main threats and the actions carried out by the Life+Iberlince project to support its conservation.
During the first days of the month, the exhibition was hosted by the town of Fuencaliente. Bordering with the province of Cordoba, this municipality is widely used by lynxes coming from(1) the Andalusian populations to visit and even settle in the region of Sierra Morena and Sierra Madrona. In addition, it should be reminded that Lugo, one of the specimens released within the project’s framework, is located in the vicinity of said municipality.
The exhibition was displayed at the tourist information office, a place highly frequented by tourists who visit the area in the summer, where they are informed about the municipality’s most unique locations.
Another region where the exhibition was displayed is Villanueva de la Fuente, for the 14th edition of the hunting, tourism, craft and agricultural products fair MENCATUR. Thus, for the third consecutive year, the Iberlince project was present at this event. There, large crowds gather with diverse concerns – hunting, agriculture, livestock, tourism – and all joined by the common link of making use of the region’s natural environment.
As in previous years, the public’s affluence to this event was very high and generated a social movement that is essential for the region’s economy.
On behalf of the project, we want to thank both municipalities for hosting the exhibition, for their collaboration and help in promoting the project and its main goal, the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
