Friends of the Lynx Club awareness activities continue.
2017-08-29
Regardless of the heat keeping us company this August, the Friends of the Lynx Club won’t cease its campaign promoting the Club’s activities, integrating new partners thanks to the recreational workshops held in different locations.
Locations as diverse as Palomas, Maguilla, Retamal de Llerena, Esparragosa, La Haba, Trasierra, or Almendralejo were some of the populations chosen to hold these workshops. The informative activities focus primarily on two population groups: one group, composed mainly of children, in summer activities held in reintroduction areas; and another group of activities in Shopping Centres in the surrounding areas, where the awareness is aimed at both children and adults.
We want to highlight the excellent welcome we received in these towns, and to thank Town Councils and Cultural Centres staffs for their collaboration, as well as Shopping Centres managers that have so graciously welcomed our Club booth.
The activities consist of the visualization of a video report made by the Friends of the Lynx Club where youngsters are shown, in a very enjoyable way, fundamental aspects of the lynx’s biology and behaviour, as they can contribute to its conservation; how they can become club members; and other relevant aspects pertaining the lynx and the IBERLINCE Project(1).
The video is complemented by a lively talk (adapted to the target audience of each workshop), and participants are encouraged to become members of the Friends of the Lynx Club. The activities end with fun drawing workshops (for the Club's mascot contest), arts and crafts workshops (where youngsters make crowns with typical lynx ears), or characterization workshops where they "put on lynx makeup". In Shopping Centres, the various activities are complemented by handing out the Project’s promotional material.
Numerous youngsters and adults have greatly enjoyed the Workshops and expressed their satisfaction for us reaching out to them through this gratifying divulgation work.
