Elipse and Nácar show favourable progress
2017-09-18
Elipse, female born in the wild from the Jandula nucleus, and Nácar, male born in captivity and released this year into the Guarrizas nucleus, were captured by Life+IBERLINCE monitoring teams in Andalusia uponshwoing various signs of limping as consequence of some sort of contusion. Elipse was first transferred to the El Blanqueo Endagered Species Recovery Centre (Pinos Genil, Granada) and later to the La Olivilla CCLI.
Both specimens underwent successful surgery, performed by the veterinary team at the San Francisco Veterinary Hospital (La Carolina, Jaén), a Life+IBERLINCE Project collaborator.
Both lynxes show favourable progress but more time is needed to determine their fate, especially Nácar, who underwent a second surgery on September 12th due to injuries on both hind limbs possibly as a result of vehicle impact.
