A female and two cubs drowned in Vilches (Jaén)
2017-10-13
On October 10th, specialists from the Regional Government of Andalusia attached to the Iberlince Project located the corpses of a radiolabelled female lynx and two cubs in an irrigation pond in the Vilches municipality (Jaén).
The necropsy results determined that the deaths were caused by drowning and/or exhaustion due to incapability of leaving the pond.
Radiological testing on the female showed the presence of 4 leaded projectiles in the head, neck and thorax, however, the located leads are superficial and not related to the death of the three individuals.
On the other hand, on October 7th, an individual reported the death of a specimen allegedly run over in the CM-410 on the edge of Mazarambroz (Toledo). It was a cub born this year. The corpse was transferred to CERI by environmental agents, where the respective necropsy was to be performed.
