The Cordoba Zoo begins work to host a pair of Iberian lynxes

The Cordoba Zoo has begun work to create a 500 square meter space where two Iberian lynx specimens from the Regional Government of Andalusia’s captivity breeding centre will be housed. The announcement came this morning at a press conference by the Environment Councilor from the Cordoba City Council, Ampara Pernichi, the Provincial Delegate for Environment and Territorial Planning, Francisco de Paula Algar, and the Director of the Iberian Lynx Conservation Project, M. Angel Simon.

According to the announcement, these refurbishment works to host the pair of lynxes will be completed by February 2018, date from which the two specimen will be transferred to the Cordoba Zoo facilities in order to contribute to the promulgation and awareness-raising campaign for the species, which has gone from 'critically endangered' to 'endangered'.
