The Iberian lynx present at the 2nd Game and Mushroom Days of Fuencaliente (Ciudad Real) through recreational and participative workshops
2017-11-17
The Iberlince Project was present at the 2nd Game and Mushroom Gastronomy Days, which took place in the city of Fuencaliente on the 10th, 11th and 12th of November, through informative workshops revealing essential aspects about one of the most threatened feline species on the planet, the Iberian lynx.
Participative workshops, developed by Project specialists, focused on children so that they can learn key facts such as the species’ special vulnerability context and biology, habitat improvement actions, and successes achieved by the LIFE+Iberlince program. Over fifty children participated in the activities, learning enthusiastically and eager to know the Iberian lynx more closely.
The itinerant exhibition "Lynx Territories" was also put on display in the locality, in order to showcase the history of the Iberian lynx’s geographical range throughout 9 graphic panels, as well as other issues pertaining to the Iberian lynx’s reintroduction program in Spain and Portugal, and how work takes place in the reintroduction areas within Castilla-La Mancha: Sierra Morena Oriental, Montes de Toledo and peripheral areas that act as natural corridors for the species’ mobility.
Numerous fair attendees approached FomeCam specialists in order to learn about the project’s development, as well as to contribute with their own experiences and encounters with the species, which happens with some frequency in this municipality of Castilla-La Mancha.
We thank the Hon. Fuencaliente City Council, the town’s Tourism Office for their collaboration, exposure, and overall support offered to the LIFE+Iberlince Project, which we remind is a project for all.
