The Iberian lynx, a species no longer critically endangered thanks to conservation work (newscast)
2017-12-11
The Iberian lynx is an endangered species and only exists in the Iberian Peninsula. Over 500 lynxes inhabit the Iberian Peninsula today, in contrast to less than 100 only 15 years ago. Experts believe that the species is no longer critically endangered, thanks to conservation work. Next year, 18 additional specimens will be released. Strengthening its population through ecological corridors connecting the areas where this species is present is one of the objectives of a new LIFE project that will be put forth by the Governments of Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha.
