New meeting with managers and hunting associations in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres)
2017-12-15
In the context of the actions carried out by the Life+IBERLINCE project: "Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal", yesterday, December 14th, a new meeting took place with the main hunting managers and heads of hunting preserves of Navalmoral de la Mata, Ibores and Villuercas (Cáceres province).
The meeting was held thanks to the collaboration of FEDEXCAZA, who fostered the meeting in the context of the annual conferences named "Hunting Chats".
As it happens, despite not being a lynx reintroduction area, it is common to exchange specimens from the mountains of Toledo and Extremadura in the region, therefore, it is very important to raise awareness in said territory.
After introducing the audience members, and for over 3 hours, there was an interesting exchange of opinions and questions about the lynx, the rabbit situation, the control of predators, the Viral Hemorrhagic Disease, tuberculosis and other topics of interest for the hunting sector.
On behalf of the IBERLINCE project, the meeting was attended by specialists from the Directorate-General for the Environment, of the Government of Extremadura’s Ministry of the Environment and Rural Affairs, Agrarian and Territory Management; Environmental Agents; specialists from CBD-HABITATS Foundation, Agroforex, and FOTEX.
The meeting was complemented by a light meal organized by FEDEXCAZA, to which AGROFOREX also contributed.
As on previous occasions, we want to thank FEDEXCAZA for their constant support, and especially José María Gallardo (President of the Federation) and Sebastián Redero (FEDEXCAZA’s head specialist for the area).
