Two Iberian lynxes run over

Yesterday morning, December 18th, a run over Iberian lynx was found by Civil Guard agents the at kilometre 23 EX-334 motorway, between Villafranca de los Barros and Palomas.

It was a male specimen from the Acebuche Breeding Centre released in 2017.

The body has been transferred to the Sierra de Fuentes Wildlife Recovery Centre where the necropsy will be performed.

Likewise, at the end of the same morning, December 18th, another Iberian lynx corpse appeared at kilometre 51 of the A-44 at the height of Pegalajar in Jaén.

It was a female from Ciudad Real.

The body was transferred to the Wildlife Analysis and Diagnosis Centre (CAD) of the Regional Government of Andalusia where a complete post-mortem examination will be performed.

Iberlince would like to emphasize the importance of notifying 112 once a dead Iberian lynx is found in order to quickly activate the body removal protocol, which is essential to obtain as much information as possible on the cause of death.
