Orson, in homage to a search and rescue dog of missing persons

The #BautizaUnLince campaign to name the Iberian lynx specimens that will be released in Guarrizas and Guadalmellato in the coming months is coming to an end, and many names have been proposed, as well as stories accompanying them. Some of them – like the one proposed by Sara that we told you about yesterday, or the one Deiane sent in – deserve to be publicized, which is why we’re now sharing them on our website.

Deiane proposed Orson, her dog’s name, which she adopted after her previous owner abandoned him in a canine unit. According to her email, in the beginning, and before he became a search and rescue dog for missing people, he was a bit naughty and fought with other dogs, but he changed over time.

Discharged from his rescue work, Orson is currently enjoying a complicated retirement due to troubles with arthrosis. For Deiane, there would be no better tribute to Orson than to name one of the lynxes that will be released into the wild this year after him.
