Oetam: A boy’s word play to baptize a lynx
2018-01-12
One week away from the end of the #BautizaUnLince campaign through which you can propose names for the Iberian lynx specimens that will be released in the reintroduction areas of Andalusia. Mateo, a seven-year-old boy, sent us an original name proposition: Oetam.
And what is Oetam? Well, as he tells us, it’s his name reversed. According to Mateo’s mother, once he read the news about the search for lynx names, the boy thought of Mateo – after himself or his first fish, Mate –, but as he read on and realized the name should begin with the letter O, he sat down with a pencil and paper and turned his name around. If it had to start with the letter O, and if he wanted to propose his own name, what better name than Oetam.
Mateo’s choice is a curious one, like many others you’re sending us, which is why we want to share it with everyone reading the Life+Iberlince project’s website.
We remind you that you can keep sending us names propositions until next Friday, January 19th, when we will announce the chosen names for some of the seven specimens that will be released in Andalusia in the coming months.
