The number of felines has increased fivefold since 2002, when there were only 94 between Doñana and Sierra Morena
One cannot state that this is a record number because, in a not too distant past, the lynx was present in virtually the entire Iberian Peninsula, but it is a symbolic, and very important number: the 'Lynx pardinus' population reached 547 specimens in 2017, according to the provisional census announced yesterday by the Regional Government of Andalusia. At 90%, the reviewed data indicates 402 felines in Andalusia and 145 in the other territories where the species is being successfully reintroduced thanks to different European projects Life: Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and southern Portugal...
