Iberlince project specialists participate in a training course for the fight against poison

Today, in Córdoba, specialists from the Life+Iberlince project 'Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain and Portugal' (2011-2018), along with Environmental Agents, Seprona, Police officers attached to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, and Biodiversity technicians, participated in a training course for the fight against the illegal use of poisoned baits organized by the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Planning by means of the Poisons Strategy.

During the day, the work lines of the Andalusian Strategy Against Poison were made known, as well as the typology of poison; the most commonly used toxic substances; the shipping protocol to the Wildlife Analysis and Diagnosis Centre of Andalusia (CAD); the forensic analysis; the Specialized Canine Unit inspections protocol; sample transportation and temporary storage, and filling out of minutes and forms, among other issues.

With the assistance of project specialists, not only is the continuous training of the Iberlince staff guaranteed, but also the coordination of all actions developed by security forces in the monitoring of Iberian lynx populations in Andalusia is reinforced.
