The Poison, lynx cause of death of Valencia de las Torres

The Iberian Lynx found dead on last August, on municipality of Valencia de las Torres, died by poisoning, according to necropsy results, that took place on the Analysis and Diagnosis Center for the Wild Fauna (CAD) at Andalusia Regional Government. Investigations are being carried out by the relevant local authorities.
The animal was a male Lynx, equipped with radio collar and one of the eight animals reintroduced last July in the area, by LIFE+IBERLINCE project, that is taking place on different Autonomous Communities from Spain and Portugal.
All reintroduction projects handles the possibility of lost by a variety of factors, some by natural causes, inherent to the species, like diseases, surrounding adaptation issues or food scarcity, and others caused by man.
Since last week, these events are being investigated by Law Enforcement, and they will stay until the investigation clears the facts.
Since the GobEx that’s working on the elaboration of the Extremadura’s Poisons Strategy, by a group work, implemented within the Advisory Council on the Environment.
