2014-09-09
The province of Ciudad Real undertook distinct improving works on road CRP 5042 that links Viso del Marques and San Lorenzo de Calatrava, with the aim of minimize the potential Iberian Lynx run over risks, on this road.

Also have been made repair works and strengthening of the edges on the road to improve fauna traffic, establishment of new wildlife safeguard free access and placement of vertical signs to make car-users aware of the existence of wild fauna run over risks.
Finally the province of Ciudad Real, that have showed great interest on the realization of the LIFE+Iberlince project proposals for intervention, also determine the speed reduction on distinct points of the road, which are critical for the possible lynx passing through.
It should be remembered that on the last few years, occurred on this road two Lynx dead by run over, because it’s presence on the area were not an isolated case, since the animals flow that exists in this territory and the population of Andújar and Guarrizas (Vilches).
The municipalities of Serra Morena’s east area, offer exceptional food conditions, as there is a great rabbit density, and therefore is an area with more Lynx. Thereby the run over probability is higher on this are that on areas with less lynx.
In these circumstances, LIFE+Iberlince project proposed some preventative measures on the preliminary report of the evaluation of the impact that could exist on the communication routes that go through Lynx areas on Castilla – La Mancha.
