Farmers committed to the Iberian-lynx’s reintroduction in Castilla La Mancha

Life+IBERLINCE prroject participates in an open day with farmers in Santa Cruz de Mudela.

The Iberlince’s technicians, in association with Ocificina Comarcal Agraria de Valdepeñas participated in an open day together with farmers in Santa Cruz de Mudela (Ciudad Real), included in iberian-lynx’s reintroduction area in Castilla La Mancha.

There were more than eighty participants between local farmers and agriculture and livestock’s representatives from Junta de Comunidades de Castilla La Mancha, whom had congregated during the open day of May 6th, where they got the opportunity to know firsthand the Life+IBERLINCE’s project development.

It turns out that many of the attendees are property owners in the reintroduction area and they want to know about lynx’s movements in their properties. Moreover, it is important to sign that a large number of the attendees are also hunters, so their interest about the lynx’s reintroduction is significant.

The impressions about the reintroduction project gathered by Iberlince technicians during the event were very positive. Several attendees showed their support and congratulations to the project to give back Iberian-lynx to its old territories.

One of the main aims for the project to be successful is to get the major social support they can and the participation of the people who lives in the reintroduction areas.
