Lucero celebrates with his release, the 100 specimens from captive breeding in Montes de Toledo

On the last Friday, May 28, took place in Montes de Toledo a new release of Iberian lynx within the Life+Iberlince Project.
Lucero, born in the breeding center of the Olivilla, is number 100 of those released lynx born in captivity.
The first lynx from captive breeding were prepared in the breeding center La Olivilla, it was Grazalema and Granadilla, and although Grazalema died in a trap cage, Granadilla still in the reintroduction area of Guarrizas and has already produced numerous cubs.
Until now, a total of 126 lynx have been freed: 80 in Andalusia, 23 in Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura 12 and 11 in Portugal. The origin of the animals released in recent years is double, 25 are from wild populations of Sierra Morena and Doñana and 100 of the captive breeding program.
