Iberlince closes the school year in municipalities of the south reintroduction area of Ciudad Real

Technicians of the Life+Iberlince project in Castilla-La Mancha have developed two outreach sessions in the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Mudela and Viso del Marqués. These two locations are within the area of reintroduction of the Iberian-lynx in the southern province of Ciudad Real.

During the 16th and 18th of the last month (June), Iberlince has been in the high schools of Eastern Sierra Morena in the southeast of the region. 4th year students of ESO from IES Máximo Laguna de Santa Cruz de Mudela and from IES Los Batanes de El Viso del Marqués were the subject of this conference to expose the Life+Iberlince project.

The students from both schools showed great interest in the reintroduction of the feline in its region. Many of them are users of the natural environment, accompanying their parents in various activities such as farming, ranching and hunting work. Furthermore, students expressed their concern at the latest death occurred in the area (Lía’s running over on the A4 highway) exposing the need to take measures to avoid such casualties.

The team of the Life+Iberlince project wants to thank the willingness and cooperation of both schools, and especially the Department of Natural Sciences, in relation to the dissemination of the reintroduction of the Iberian-lynx in Castilla-La Mancha.
