The increase of Iberian Lynx run over’s worry the European Commission and Andalusia Government

The Department of Environmental and Regional Planning of Andalusia, in the wake of a visit of European Commission, convened last Monday, 15th of September, a meeting with the national and regional responsible of communication routes.

On the meeting were present representatives of the Promoting and Housing department from Andalusia and ADIF, where was analyzed the run over’s that occur since the beginning of LIFE+Iberlince project until that day, adding more relevance to the black point detected on the roads A-49, A-4 and N-422 – the Promoting Department – and on roads A-481, A-483 and A-421 - Promoting and Housing Department, on AVE line from Córdoba/Puertollano e on rail line Linares/Alcázar de San Juan, assessing the measures taken place on each one.

Was establish a working strategy with short, medium and long term actions.

At short and medium terms, will act with effectiveness and strength on the critical points, allowing the reutilization of infrastructures that already exists to  pass way of Iberian Lynx. At long term, through the construction of new wild fauna pass ways structures, in order to increase the roads safety, and avoid traffic accidents.
