Release of the first lynx after the species have descended into the category of endangered species, according to IUCN

The Minister of Environment and Land Management of Junta de Andalucía, José Fiscal, released on the last Wednesday, August 5, a male Iberian lynx in the municipality of Villafranca in Cordoba. It is "Lapa", a sub adult male specimen that was captured in Sierra Morena on the last July along with another lynx of the same litter, in order to decrease the rabbit hunting pressure in the area.
From the population center of Jándula, Andújar-Cardeña (Sierra Morena), the specimen underwent to a complete health inspection and transferred to the quarantine zone “Centro de Cría do Lince Ibérico de El Acebuche”.
Once obtained the results of the tests, it was confirmed that it was able, from a health point of view and does not constitute any immediate threat to the target population.
