Road Works to improve A-241 which passes through the zone Guadalmellato (Cordoba)

By the end of July, the Housing and Development of Regional Ministry of Junta de Andalucia, began to work on improving the A-421 road. The goals set within the activities of the LIFE + Iberlince project, aimed at minimizing the risk of running over the Iberian-lynx in your presence area and promote the connection to their habitat.
The A-421 road is located in the nucleus of reintroduction of the species in Guadalmellato area and connects between the towns of Villafranca de Cordoba and Villanueva de Cordoba. The road works that are being developed in the section that goes from Adamuz to Villanueva de Córdoba, zone usually crossed by Iberian-lynx, consist in placing 3,500 meters of grid, on both sides of the road. It is intended that this system acts as a barrier and also promote safe passage to the Iberian-lynx in areas such as cross drainage works (ODT) of water in this track section, which connects both sides of the road, underneath the same. These ODT will provide safe passage not only to the Iberian-lynx, but also to other species of terrestrial fauna in favour of the connection and increasing the safety of the road in that area.
The A-421 has road signs warning the drivers that that is an Iberian-lynx’s crossing area.
