The return of Kaa
2015-10-01
On the last wednesday, September 30, the female lynx Kaa was captured in the Sierra Arana (Granada).
After deciding the need to capture, they provided a trapping device on Monday September 28. Two days later it was captured and taken to Breeding Center Iberian lynx "The Olivilla" to conduct a complete physical exhaustive assigned health assessment and examination by staff of the Ministry of Environment attached to the Life+Iberlince Project. During the evaluation it was found that Kaa has an excellent physical condition and overall appearance. As a result of the examination they found a corneal scar but its eyesight condition and the presence of two pellets subcutaneously in the neck and thigh that was also detected are due to a recent gunshot with a small weapon.
It was also revaccinated against feline leukemia virus and samples were taken for an extensive battery of tests at the Center for Analysis and diagnosis of Wildlife of the regional government of Andalusia, which provided all the possible information about its health.
Once it recovered from anesthesia, moved to the subpopulation og Guadalmellato river valley for release into the wild. Thanks to radio-collar that will be able to know their movements in the future.
