Iberian lynx "Loro" back into its territory after surgery recovery

Introduced in surrounded by soft loose, on the 3rd of March, 2015, under the LIFE10NAT/ES/570 Iberlince Project, along with the female Liberdade, the Iberian lynx Loro, coming from the center creates the El Acebuche, Spain, was released into the wild on April 16, 2015, having been set on the west end of Herdade das Romeiras in Mértola.
In the follow-up and monitoring of the Iberian lynx that are released in the Guadiana Valley, the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forestry detected, on July 8, through direct observation and video recording, the male Loro presented a problem in the left hind leg that prevented him from moving normally.
The animal was captured on July 9 and transported to the Veterinary Surgery Center of Loures, where Dr. Rafael Lourenço underwent it to the surgery for the left tibia fracture correction.
The Iberian lynx Loro has been, since then, recovering the quarantine of the National Center for Iberian Lynx Reproduction in Silves.
After removal of intramedullary pins that have been applied in July, the animal showed to be able to return to its territory.
It was released on November 2, 2015, in great physical condition, and its evolution will now be accompanied by field team coordinated by the Nature Conservation Institute and Forestry, IP
