Iberlince reaches the classrooms of Toledo

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Toledo, which is coordinate by the Deputy Jose Luis Fernandez, will collaborate with the Life+Iberlince project through the environmental education conference "The lynx in school", being the Montes de Toledo one of the five areas selected in the Iberian peninsula for the reintroduction of the endangered Iberian lynx in its provinces.
The work that has been done for years to save from extinction of this unique species of Spain and Portugal has as an highlight the Life+Iberlince project, which involves the release of specimens in territories occupied this cat not so long ago. Thus, in the province of Toledo they have been released and 11 individuals for 2016 and proceed to drop another 10.
Beside the technical work of field, Iberlince also makes a work of awareness of the species and is, in this respect, in which the Council of Toledo will actively collaborate. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has designed the conference "The lynx in school," a series of activities aimed at schoolchildren in the educational centers de Pulgar, Mazarambroz, Cuerva, Menasalbas, Ventas con Peña Aguilera, San Pablo de los Montes, Gálvez y Navahermosa, municipalities within the catchment area where rampant lynxes.
Stories like "The Lynx adventure" which tells the story of a lynx born in a breeding center and released in Montes de Toledo, which deepens presentations on the causes of endangered feline, models to learn about their characteristics and manipulative workshops prints and other items are some of the proposals that offer these days. The aim is to explain the Environment from that school of these areas are excited about the animal and become complicit in their conservation.
The activities are aimed at all school children from the kindergarten stage of 3 years to 6th grade students, adding with a total of approximately 1,400 participants. The first day starts in the school of San Pablo de los Montes on January 18 and throughout the months of January, February and March will be carried out in schools of different villages.
